Ku Chatlanian. Have you brought any Ketse for this journey?

Kin-Dza-Dza was my first step into Russian films - I did not expect to find a new favorite movie in 2025, I've had the same favorites for ages! I have to thank the boutique label Deaf Crocodile[X] for their exceptional work on getting these foreign films released in America, in great quality. The locations that were used to film this movie were scouted perfectly - you really feel you've been brought to Pluke.

Kin-Dza-Dza starts off rather quickly - I really enjoy that it expects the viewer to pick up on the nuances of the language and culture of the Plukanians. I think by leaving it to the viewer initially to piece together the context, you get much more interested in the world you've been brought to. It does give you a mini-dictionary towards the middle to fill in any gaps you may not have picked up with the language.
